The Plan of Action

I need to keep my Greek sharp, and you do too. We can do it together! Every weekday morning, I will post a verse from the Greek NT (and we may occasionally dip into the Apostolic Fathers for a change of pace). Then, in the afternoon I will make a second post including a translation and grammatical analysis. The translation will be my own, and the analysis will include descriptions of the functions of various words and the identification of each verb.

(NB: In the grammatical analysis, I will be using the categories from Daniel B. Wallace's Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics. His categories are developed especially for the Koine Greek found in the Greek NT, and I have known several classical Greek students who have been frustrated with his oversimplifications. To those classically trained readers, I apologize.)

I encourage you to check in every morning, work on your own translation, and then compare notes in the afternoon. I solicit your comments on the translation and grammar. Let us sharpen one another!

We begin with 2 John. It's short and fairly straight forward; so, it will provide us a good opportunity to warm up. After that, we'll pick another chapter from the Greek NT. Suggestions for chapters to translate are welcome.
